Loughborough University and the Institute of Sports Humanities launch new Leadership in Sport Master’s
Loughborough University London and the Institute of Sports Humanities (ISH) are delighted to announce the launch of a new Master’s in Leadership in Sport to run from Autumn 2023.
Students on the MA Leadership in Sport programme will join a powerful international network of sports experts and benefit from relationships across sports and sectors of the industry.
The MA Leadership in Sport is designed for individuals who wish to develop their impact and effectiveness in leading and managing individuals, teams, and organisations within the sport industry.
The course is ideally suited to executives working in the sports industry, professionals seeking a career in sport and for athletes looking for specialised education to support their leadership development on and off the field.
Loughborough University has been named the world's best university for sports related subjects, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022).
ISH’s mission is to nurture and inspire sport’s current and future leaders around the world – smart thinking leading to better decisions and braver leadership.
Professor Tony Edwards, Dean of Loughborough University London, said: “Over the last eight years we have developed an outstanding student experience and research base in sport business and the partnership with ISH allows us to take this forward in a novel and impactful way.”
ISH has educated leaders from elite sporting organisations including: the Football Association, England Cricket, London Marathon Events, IMG, Rugby Football League, England Squash, Rugby Players Association, Professionals Cricketers Association, Premier League Productions, Manchester City Football Club and other leading sports organisations.

The MA Leadership in Sport will be a 12- or 24-month programme run online and in-person from October 2023. The programme will also be offered at Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate level.
