Institute of Sports Humanities (ISH) announces 2022 MA Leadership in Sport programme dates and lecturers

The Institute of Sports Humanities (ISH) is delighted to announce programme dates and lecturers for the 2022 MA Leadership in Sport at the University of Buckingham. 

ISH is launching its third cohort in January 2022. The London-based course (blended online/in-person) runs from 25th January 2022 for 12 or 24 months. 

Guest lecturers will include Mervyn King, former Governor of the Bank of England; Georgina Harland, Team GB Chef de Mission Beijing 2022 Olympic Games; Simon Kuper, Financial Times writer and author of Barca; Dr Ikram Butt, CEO British Asian Rugby Association; Ed Smith, ISH co-founder, writer and former Chief Selector for England Cricket. Further lectures will be named in due course. 

The 2021 programme included seminars and lectures by the historian Ram Guha, the head of the Centre for Army Leadership Langley Sharp, and the leading sports administrator Mo Bobat. 

Prof. Tony Collins and Dr. Simon Rofe are module leaders across the programme. 

ISH’s mission is to nurture and inspire sport’s current and future leaders around the world – smart thinking leading to better decisions and braver leadership. 

ISH has educated leaders from elite sporting organisations including: the Football Association, England Cricket, London Marathon, IMG, England Squash, Rugby Players Association, Professionals Cricketers Association and Premier League Productions. 

The course has been designed so that students can stay in their jobs while studying – featuring evening online lectures, seminars and supervisions (after work hours) online and at our townhouse in London. 

The MA’s six taught modules are: 

• Management and Decision-making

• The Sports Industry & Entrepreneurship

• Sports Governance, Law, Ethics & Research Methods

• Sport and Globalisation

• The Sporting Event

• Sport, Society and Equality

The MA Leadership in Sport is also offered as a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) and Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert).
