2024 WRAP

2024 has been busy, productive year for everyone at the Institute of Sports Humanities.

Our first cohort of students on the ISH-Loughborough University London Leadership in Sport MA graduated this December, with exceptional final results.

In September, alongside Loughborough University London, we welcomed our newest cohort on the Leadership in Sport MA – our course for current and future sports industry leaders. Having already been backstage at Sandhurst and Twickenham, we look forward to trips to Lord’s and the 2012 Olympic Park early in 2025.

Ed Smith, ISH Director, presented leadership sessions at the FA, the PFA and also the Leaders Development Institute in Saudi Arabia. He recently spoke at the packed Bangalore Literary Festival about his books Making Decisions and Luck.

Informed by experiences with ISH students and ISH academics, Dr. Simon Rofe is soon to publish a groundbreaking Sports Diplomacy Handbook (Routledge, 2025).

Prof. Tony Collins - as well as contributing a chapter to Dr. Rofe’s collection - has his own new book coming out with Bloomsbury in the New Year, Roy Francis: Rugby’s Forgotten Black Leader.
